A panel discussion on GNH: Reimagining Development for Happiness and Wellbeing, highlighted the need for a change in mind-set and the importance of GNH values that will lead to sustainable actions and GNH outcomes. One of the key messages from this session was that GNH cannot be a top-down approach, but has to be conducted in a consultative manner. For example, poverty reduction efforts are more effective when local knowledge and realities are acknowledged, and when working in partnership with the beneficiaries of targeted poverty interventions.

A thematic session on National Development Priorities looked at key aspects of the 12th Five Year Plan and SDG Integration, presented by the Secretary of the GNH Commission. The session saw discussions on key achievements, challenges, and priorities going forward in the 12th FYP, which is the transition Plan to LDC graduation.

The 14th RTM began with an inaugural session held on 12th March, during which the Honourable Prime Minister Lyonchhen (Dr.) Lotay Tshering delivered the inaugural address. Introductory remarks were also delivered by H.E. Mr. Achim Steiner, UNDP Administrator and UN Under-Secretary General, and co-chair for the 14th RTM.
